2020 Daylight saving time is here

The time change helps us to reduce energy consumption and to adapt the rhythm of life to the hours of natural light.

Twice a year we change the clocks to adapt to winter or summer time. This change used to be mandatory, but starting in October 2018, the change is no longer mandatory. Today, many countries still change the clocks, despite the fact that more and more are keeping the same time all year round.

When does the hour change?

There is no specific key day that coincides with the calendar; rather it is done on the last Sunday in March, adapting the light to summer time, and on the last Sunday in October, adapting the light to winter time.

What is the reason for the change?

The main reasons for establishing two different times are directly related to energy saving and making the most of sunlight. The time change is intended to adapt the activities carried out every day to the hours of natural light, thus taking advantage of it.

Energy savings, besides generating a drop in the electricity bill, contributes directly to the reduction of pollution and climate change on the planet. Moreover, if we add the installation of LED lighting in our homes to this, the savings will be even greater.

LED lighting not only helps to reduce energy costs, but also requires less frequent replacement of these lights because of their long life.  Thanks to the technologies and solutions offered by Prilux, such as WAS Indoor, together with LED luminaires, it is possible to control and automate lighting according to the natural light that enters each space.This makes it possible to constantly maintain the same lighting in each zone by regulating its intensity, resulting in greater energy savings.

The regulation of light in spaces not only contributes to energy savings, but also improves the circadian rhythm of human beings that is sometimes altered by the time change.
